Skyline Movie Promo

11 / 9 / 107 / 15 / 11
Skyline movie makeup

Skyline is a new movie coming to theatre’s this Friday. The Movie is Directed and Produced by the Strause Brothers, who were responsible for Alien vs Predator: Requiem, and the visual effects for Avitar, The Curious Case of Benjamin Button, 300, and Iron Man 2.

The movie looks awesome, and I’m really excited to report that I’ll be doing the makeup for an event this Wednesday the 10th that will be promoting the opening of the movie.  If you haven’t seen some of the makeup in the Trailor, then go check it out, it’s creepy.  I’ll be re-creating those scary looks on different models that will be walking around Downtown Vancouver Wednesday night to promote the movies premier this Friday night.

Please check back soon cuz I’ll be posting some of my creepy makeup pics asap!!!  And go see the movie this Friday in Theatres.

Sweethearts vs. Monsters

10 / 21 / 107 / 15 / 11
Sweetheart Monster's Ball

Halloween has arrived a week early this year with Rethink Breast Cancer’s annual event, The Little Sweetheart Ball.  This year the event will have a spooky Halloween theme and promisses to deliver tons of exciting activities for the little monster or sweetheart in your family.

The event is organized to raise funds for Breast Cancer research and education.  I’ve been attending this event for the last three years now and think it’s an awesome way to raise awareness for such an important cause.  If you would like to learn more about Rethink’s events and cause please check out thier webiste http://rethinkbreastcancer.com/

Last year’s event was an adult oriented evening held at Pop Opera.  I offered my support by setting up a makeup station where women could come and get a makeover througout the night.  This year I have decided to donate a YUMMY MUMMY MAKEOVER to one lucky bidder in the silent auction.  I’ve also added a special 20% discount coupon for my FAIRY PRINCESS PARTIES to every gift bag at the event.  So don’t miss out, get your tickets online now!!!

For tickets and event info please visit, http://www.littlesweetheartball.com/

Pink Monkey Studios: Where cutting edge headshots are born…

10 / 14 / 106 / 9 / 11
It’s so great to be back in Vancouver after several long months living and working in Australia.  Why you ask???  Well, there are a million reasons why Vancouver is notably the best place on earth to live and work…one of those reasons right up there on my list is that I get to work alongside the husband and wife team of Ross and Sarolta again at Pink Monkey Studios, http://www.pinkmonkeystudios.com/.

I just finished another day of headshots at Pink Monkey and am lucky enough to have a few more booked for the next coming weeks ahead.  I always love working with Ross and Sarolta.  They’re fun, enthusiastic, and most of all, seriously know their stuff.  Not to mention the fact that you’ll have a super talented makeup artist, ME, at your side to make sure you look your absolute best.

It’s a new season, which means…it’s the perfect time for a change if you need to update your headshots.  So go check them out at http://www.pinkmonkey.com/.  Go!! Do it!!!  You won’t be disappointed I promise.

A Makeup Application for Headshots will cost you $75.  This includes two looks and your own personal makeup artist to fawn over you throughout the entire shoot.  Send me an email anytime for more details and to book an appointment, danielle-west@hotmail.com

X-Weighted Photoshoot

9 / 16 / 106 / 9 / 11

Last night I had the privilage of working alongside Chloe Eckert, Creative Consultant for X-Weighted, an awesome health and wellness documentary style show featured on the Slice Network.

X-Weighted is in it’s 3rd Season now and will be featuring individual families and thier journey to lose weight together over a 6mth period.  Filming has ended now, which means it’s “Reveal Time” for the families and thier success stories.  That’s where I come in!
I was brought on board to complete thier transformation with the long awaited, “After” shots.  I designed the hair and makeup for the entire family in preparation for their photoshoot.  It was a really long night, but well worth it, cuz now my work will be featured in their upcoming premier show, yeah me!
This is the second time my work will be broadcast on television.  I also did a photoshoot with local designer, Kim Cathers for her line Kdon.  That very photoshoot got Kim chosen to be a contestant on “Project Runway Canada”, and was then featured on their Premier show.  Best feeling EVER!
Anyway, Chloe was wicked, and a pleasure to work with!  I’m so glad that I got the opportunity to work with her.
Everyone needs to check out the Premier, October 14th on the Slice Network.

Smashbox Photofinish Targeted Pore and Line Primer

9 / 14 / 106 / 9 / 11

Anybody that knows me can tell you that I am completely and unequivocally obcessed with skin primers.  I have spent many hours in Sephora, browsing the isles, desperately seeking that one miracle primer that will make all my smooth skin dreams comes true.

Well…today I can proudly say that I think I may have found “The One”.

On a recent trip to Seattle I accidently came across this product by Smashbox.  Like mana from Heaven it literally fell off the shelf and into my lap.  Smashbox has a long line of primers in thier Photo Finish collection.  I have tried most of them before, but they ceased to impress.  This new primer, which is exclusively sold at Sephora in Canada for $37, works wonders for fine lines, and those dreaded enlarged pores.
I’m used to gel primers like that of my timeless fav, MAC’s Matte, but this is more of a creamy consistancy, which threw me off at first, but now I love the shine free matte texture it delivers.  It works fantastic under your foundation and concealer, providing a perfectly smooth , shine-free base throughout the day.  It will definitely become a staple product in my kit from now on.
Those unsightly pores are deminished before my very eyes, what more could a girl ask for!
